House renovation: Part Five

The bedroom downstairs is the room we've done the least in.  The broken mini blinds were replaced by roman shades and insulated drapes.

The closet in the corner certainly need to be finished, and there was quite a bit of trim missing that had to be patched in.

The panelling wasn't quite as dark, so we decided just to leave it.  The floor could probably use a re-finish, but we just put a rug down and called it good.

Here it is today, in it's multifunction use as James' room/playroom/guestroom/sewing supply room.
this gorgeous big toy box was made for the kids by my brother

Confession:  That big green dresser and the entire closet are full of my sewing stash.  The little brown dresser (the top opens up and reveals a changing table!) contains all of James and Ailidh's clothes.  Is it a bad sign that my hobby (or, as Steve would say, my habit) requires more space than all 3 of my children's clothing, put together?

The closet wasn't too difficult.  We found a door at a salvage yard that matched the style of the others in the house (it just needed a lot of stripping/sanding/staining/varnishing).  It was a little short, so we added a 2x8 to the bottom to lengthen it.  We put a frame around it to match other frames in the house, took the original baseboards out of the inside of the closet and cut them to fit on the outside, and the closet looks much less of an afterthought now!
